SEEKING TO APPOINT A

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT WORKER FOR MEN/FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

THE POSITION WILL WORK AS PART OF THE DESIGNATED TEAM IN DELIVERING A
QUALITY AND EFFECTIVE SERVICE. THIS SERVICE IS PROVIDED THROUGH
OFFERING OUTREACH AND HOME-BASED SUPPORTS TO MEN WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & PARENTS AND CHILDREN IN THE ASSIGNED AREA.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

ESSENTIAL

* A relevant qualification at a minimum of level 6 or higher on the
National Framework of Qualifications of Ireland (NFQ) in the areas of
domestic violence, family support or social care.
* The requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of
suitability and ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of
position
* Knowledge of Tusla’s Prevention, Partnership and Family Support;
Child Protection and Welfare; and Alternative Care Strategies.
* Always adhere to Children’s First guidance and legislation, with
a comprehensive an understanding of child protection risk and harm.

An understanding of:

* Community development approach to domestic violence, child
protection and family support.
* The impact of poverty and disadvantage on individuals and
communities and especially its impact on parenting.
* Holistic developmental needs within the context of their family
and community.

Children’s rights.

* Access to own transport with full driving licence.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

* Develop Activities and Services to meet the needs of men who have
experienced domestic violence, children, their families, and the Local
Community
* Case noting, Communications, Reporting, and engagement with
relevant stakeholders.
* Along with the team, develop, plan and facilitate workshops and
community events.
* Administration and Finances
